Mountain biking’s biggest names are heading to Virginia’s Blue Ridge this summer.

From July 12-19, the Roanoke Region will host the 2026 USA Cycling Endurance Mountain Bike National Championship, bringing elite athletes and cycling fans from across the country to experience world-class racing in one of the nation’s premier outdoor destinations.

Think: members of the U.S. National Team, former Olympians, and some of the country’s top cyclists.

Races include:

Marathon (XCM) at Carvins Cove
Short Track (XCC) at Elmwood Park
Cross Country (XCO) at Explore Park

Beyond the competition, visitors can turn the event into a full summer getaway by exploring Virginia’s Blue Ridge.

From craft breweries, wineries, and distilleries on the VBR Cheers Trail to iconic local restaurants, there’s plenty to experience.

The best part? The Roanoke Region offers a variety of hotel and lodging options with easy access to the park systems and race courses.
