A 100-year-old Fort Worth home is getting new life as a collaborative art space aimed at serving all types of artists.

Kinfolk House + its mission

Inspired by his grandmother's legacy of fellowship + community, Sedrick Huckaby — along with his partner, Letitia — took on the challenge of renovating the 1.5 acre home at 1913 Wallace St. when they bought it in 2010. Their goal was to completely refurbish it + convert it into a space for artists to showcase their talents and celebrate their heritage.

This fall, Kinfolk House is hosting small, local events and there are plans for a grand opening in February 2022 consisting of a mixed-media project collaboration focusing on family, community, and heritage.

The artists believe that it is important to have a creative outlet in the Polytechnic neighborhood of Fort Worth — a predominately Black and Hispanic community — so that people can see art and creativity is possible in their own neighborhood.
