The wait for MetroBike's makeover is almost over — its new fleet of electric-assist bikes will launch in July.

What's in the reboot?

A new name, BikeShare, and a new look
Revamped docking stations and more locations
Bikes will feature automatic motors with all-pedal assist, enhanced stability, and inline battery placement
A new BikeShare app

To prepare for the transition, MetroBike services will end Monday, July 1. Here's what cyclists should know:

Purchases have been paused on 31-day and annual passes
As current equipment is retired, bikers may experience issues with bikes or stations
CapMetro will work to resolve issues in the interim, but will not invest in outgoing equipment
Account holders will receive a transfer email from CapMetro in July

BikeShare will debut via a rolling launch of the new stations and bikes starting in mid-July, and expects to be fully switched over in the fall.
