This weekend, more than 2,500 athletes from around the world will be in the Scenic City for IRONMAN Chattanooga.

If it feels like we just had an IRONMAN event — you're not imagining things. That was IRONMAN 70.3, which is half the distance of the race happening on Sunday, Sept. 27. This time, athletes will swim, bike, and run a total of 140.6 miles.

Whether you're planning to cheer them on, volunteer, or steer clear of the area, we’ve got you covered with the details.

ℹ️ Triathlon specifics

2.4-mile swim
112-mile bike
26.2-mile run

👀 Where to watch

The race starts with the swimming portion at 7:30 a.m., so you might be able to see the athletes on a morning stroll along the Riverwalk.
The biking portion will go through downtown, Red Bank, and Soddy-Daisy.
The running portion includes downtown, the Tennessee Riverwalk, Veterans Bridge, Northshore, and Riverfront Parkway.
You can cheer on the athletes at several designated spectator zones along the course, but the best spot might be Ross's Landing. That's where all three parts of the triathlon will finish.
Download the interactive Ironman Athlete Tracker App to follow athletes in real time. Pro tip: You can track multiple athletes at a time.
Transportation officials recommend parking in the downtown garages and lots. Spectators can also use the free electric shuttle (beginning at 9:30 a.m.) or Chattanooga's bike transit system (24/7).
