ICYMI – food halls are having a moment across the country, and Greenville is not one to be excluded from a happening trend. Gather GVL opened in downtown Greenville earlier this year, The Warehouse at Vaughn’s opened in downtown Simpsonville only a few weeks ago, and Cartwright Food Hall is coming soon to downtown Greer.

And today, we’re excited to let y’all know that another local food hall is setting up shop in fall 2021, and the best part – it will be directly connected to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail. Enter Hammett Street Market.

This 30,000 sq. ft. modern food hall (about half the size of a football field) will sit adjacent to the former American Spinning Mill – which will be converted into 280 Class-A apartments during Phase One of development.

The American Spinning Company was organized in 1895 by Oscar Sampson, James Orr, and Jacob Cagle. The company began in a two-story wooden building but quickly grew into the brick building pictured above, built in 1902, and was operational until June 27, 1990. At one point, the mill’s surrounding village was home to 2,000+ people. You can see more photos of the mill + the folks who called the area home here.

Anyways, now back to the future – SVN | BlackStream is currently searching for a brewery or taproom and eleven restaurants or food vendors looking to participate in this endeavour. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a tenant, contact Courtney Pitts via email or give her a call at (864) 800-3953.

We’ll be sure to keep y’all updated as we learn more, but one thing’s for certain, we’re definitely fans of this food hall trend here in Greenville. 👏
