No matter how you build it, slice it, and bite it, we love a sandwich. The perfect, go-to food staple for any time, day or night, Greenville has some sandwich joints wheat just can’t get enough of.

We are grilled to share a list jam-packed with our six of our favorite GVL sandwiches for August, aka National Sandwich Month.

Harry's Hoagies, 1700-A E. North St.
The Godfather | Holy capicola this hoagie is good — stuffed with prosciutto, sweet capicola, spicy soppressata, finocchiona, roasted red peppers, aged provolone + long hots (italian peppers).

DYK: This new Overbrook spot imports its hoagie rolls from Liscio’s Italian Bakery in New Jersey — the same bread served at famous cheesesteak and hoagie joints in Philly, like Geno’s Steaks.

Empire Deli, 1010 Woods Crossing Rd.
Fried Smoked Bologna | Your favorite childhood bologna sandwich got an upgrade: House smoked bologna with American cheese, a fried runny egg, topped with mayo + smoked mustard BBQ sauce on white bread (grilled with some butter).

Pro tip: Add avocado and mayo to take your Turkey Pesto to the next level. | Photo by GVLtoday

Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery, 205 Cedar Lane Rd.
Turkey Pesto Sandwich | Served on its famous stecca bread, this fan-favorite sandwich features turkey, jack cheese, pesto (contains nuts), lettuce + tomato.

Deep fried + PB and J go together like peanut butter and jelly. | Photo by Society Sandwich Bar

Society Sandwich Bar and Social Club, 18 E. Coffee St.
The Deep-Fried PB&J | It’s peanut butter jelly time with this nostalgic sweet treat featuring peanut butter + house-made berry jam, tucked inside a puff pastry and fried.

Sully's Steamers, Multiple locations
The Cousin Eddie | You won’t find this sandwich — stacked with turkey, bacon, provolone and pepper jack cheeses, BBQ and parmesan peppercorn sauces, lettuce + half a bag of BBQ chips — on Sully’s regular menu, but you can order it from the secret Legacy Menu and try this over-the-top steamer anytime.

Duke Sandwich Company, 1001 Poinsett Hwy.
Deluxe Grilled Pimento with Bacon | A Southern take on a grilled cheese sandwich featuring Duke’s premium pimento cheese, bacon + tomato jam — a classic sandwich is even better from a classic spot.

Did your favorite sammie make the list? Lettuce know what else we have to try.
