It’s been said a time or two (or a dozen): It’s never too early to start developing good money habits. And while it may be a cliché, it couldn’t be more true.

That’s why Greenville Federal Credit Union is excited to now offer Student Memberships and Accounts for every Greenville County high school student and specialty center student.

As teens begin juggling first jobs, paychecks, and busy social lives, having a safe place to store their hard-earned money is essential. Unlike apps like Chime or CashApp — where misplaced funds may be gone for good — credit union accounts are federally insured up to $250,000. That means your teens’ money is protected while they learn to manage it responsibly.

Why join?

Student members enjoy plenty of perks, including:

Free mobile and online banking to track accounts 24/7
Online budgeting and goal-setting tools
Access to discount entertainment tickets
A $10 Chick-fil-A gift card at account opening
A vote at Greenville Federal Credit Union’s Annual Membership Meeting

Even better, students get direct access to financial literacy resources. The Greenville Federal Credit Union team frequently visits Greenville County Schools to share real-world lessons on budgeting, fraud prevention, and more, equipping students with the tools they need to thrive.

Joining is simple: Students just need a valid GCS student ID and proof of address — no guardian required. At age 18, Student Memberships seamlessly transition to General Membership.
