As our city grows, Greenville's skyline will transform and change, just as it has for decades. Most recently, we’ve been following the Greenville Gateway project — a development proposed between North Church Street, East North Street, and Beattie Place.

According to the agenda for Thursday’s Design Review Board meeting, the development will (once again) go before city leaders for additional approval. At 29 stories, the Greenville Gateway would be the tallest building in Greenville once complete.

So, what other buildings define Greenville’s skyline and how tall are they?

Two Liberty Square, 75 Beattie Pl. | 12 stories | Built: 1986

Built next to — you guessed it — One Liberty Square, these two buildings feature 445,000 sqft of office space.

Westin Poinsett, 120 S. Main St. | 12 stories | Built: 1925

After the Mansion House Hotel (which operated for over a century) was torn down in 1924, the Poinsett Hotel was built and has a long history downtown.

ONE Building, 1 N. Main St. | 11 stories | Built: 2014

This mixed-use development, nestled in ONE City Plaza, is surrounded by restaurants, retail, nightlife, and more office space.

Poinsett Plaza, 104 S. Main St. | 11 stories | Built: 1999

In addition to corporate offices, the Poinsett Plaza building is also home to Maestro’s Bistro & Dinner Club.

Deca Camperdown, 320 Falls St. | 10 stories | Built: 2020

This apartment building above some of Camperdown's retail is technically only 10 stories, but it has "a rooftop deck with 360-degree views of downtown Greenville from the 11th story vantage point."

Wells Fargo Center, 15 S. Main St. | 10 stories | Built: 1974

Home to downtown Stecca, we most recently visited the Wells Fargo Center to experience the new downtown Swamp Mart by Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery.

City Hall, 206 S. Main St. | 10 stories | Built: 1972

Though this building has been known as City Hall, the City of Greenville plans to relocate its government operations near Falls Park.

Liberty Building, 135 S. Main St. | 10 stories | Built: 1930

One of the oldest buildings on this list, this tower is on the National Register of Historic Places and was one of the first skyscrapers built in our city.
