Did someone say discotheque? 🕺

If you've been in Cottontown lately, you may have noticed an empty warehouse building that sits right next to Indah Coffee + Circa Barbershop, at 2222 Sumter St.

This is a former Loomis truck warehouse, (which picked up + delivered cash and coinage to and from restaurants), and Cason Development Group (who developed Indah and Circa) has purchased the building for future renovations. ⬇️

A few weeks ago, we took to Instagram and Facebook to ask y’all what you’d like to see fill the empty space. And you told us.

#Answered: This is what you want to see fill the empty Cottontown space at 2222 Sumter St. ⬇️

📚 indie bookstore (*Chloe + Beth’s pick) | @beth_in_803

Perhaps like Battery Park in Asheville? ⬇️ (Which also fits @ashcadd’s vote for champagne library.)

🕹 barcade (*Sam’s pick) | @jmwrainwater

We’re envisioning popular bar + arcade hybrids like CLT’s Abari and ATL’s Joystick. ⬇️ (Luckily, a similar concept is coming to Main St.)

🛒 boutique grocery store | @circabarbershop + @prettyandpinnedsc

Boutique grocery stores are typically smaller in size than traditional chains, and have gourmet, organic, frozen + regular selections (ex: Rosewood Market here in Cola, and Sprouts Farmer’s Market chain based in Phoenix). ⬇️ Bless Local Yocal, which is coming to Main St. soon.

🌮 Taqueria del Sol | @girlnextdoor18

A fast-casual taco joint with a full bar + build-your-own margaritas. ⬇️ We can get down with that.

🎶 discotheque (*Mariah’s pick) | @andrewwlepczyk

A.k.a. a big dance club that stays open late – like Label. in Charlotte ⬇️ (which is kind of like a bigger/crazier Blue or Social in the Vista).

🌮 Willy Taco | @anthonyjcharles

The Spartanburg-based taco shop which opened their second location last year in Greenville ⬇️ – and has a killer toasted coconut + lime margarita.

🐾 anything pet friendly | @colatownpets

Karl + Annie need more places to go out + play, amirite?

🍴 a cool restaurant/pub vibe | @tay_wilks

We’re always down for more places to eat. Please let this one have outdoor seating.

🎨 art venue/dance venue | @a2squared

We like the sound of that.

🍨 gelato | @elizabethasilyn

Scoopy Doo + Sweet Cream Co. are already here, but we’d love if every Cola neighborhood got one of their own.

🎸 a "picking parlor" or something else artistic | Barbara Lengel

Something like Bill’s Music Shop + Pickin’ Parlour – for you all string music fans out there.

#Asked and #Answered is one way we love getting your opinions on what is or should be happening in our city. Look out for more of these – and if you have a question (or an answer to one our our questions) – hit us up via email, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Honestly, y’all nailed it – food, bars, books, music + pets – I can’t think of anything else to add. Good work, my friends.
