Tomorrow, Sat., June 26, Cary will break ground on the new Downtown Park. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. in front of the park — with celebrations continuing throughout the day.

The 7-acre park, located at 327 S. Academy St. (across from the Cary Regional Library), will feature a great lawn, a gathering garden, a dog park, and a children’s play area. According to the project's website, the park also plans to offer numerous community programs such as art exhibitions, concerts, fitness classes, book clubs, movies + more.

Currently, the park is slated for completion by summer 2023. After the groundbreaking ceremony, the town will offer free, guided walking tours of Downtown.

At 2 p.m., the park designers (OJB Landscape Architecture) will share a presentation on the park including design, environmental issues, horticulture, and more. ProTip: Submit questions for the presentation to joy.ennis@townofcary.org.
