June is one of the busiest months for the LGBT Center of Raleigh — as the center is celebrating + advocating for Pride Month.

For Kori Hennessey, the center’s director of education and programs, Pride Month is a time for self-expression + educating the community.

“It's a time where my community can be out and proud without the fear of judgement, and we only have this because of the work of Black and brown transgender women,” Kori said. “Pride Month is lifting up the voices of the most marginalized people in our community, but it shouldn't stop there. Pride is more than just a month — it's human lives.”

Beyond Pride Month, the center’s mission is to “to serve, empower, and advocate for the well-being of our diverse LGBTQ+ communities.” Through various resources, programs, and initiatives it aims to create a more inclusive world, in which queer people thrive.
