Women's professional basketball is hitting the court in the Queen City. The Charlotte Crown will play its inaugural home opener on Thursday, May 21, at Bojangles Coliseum, and the team is ready to have you in the stands.

"I anticipate a liveliness in that arena. We're going to light it up," Head Coach Trisha Stafford-Odom told CLTtoday.

The team was introduced in October 2025 as part of the Upshot League and will play a 34-game season through mid-August. While professional basketball is nothing new in the Queen City (hey, Charlotte Hornets), women's professional basketball hasn't had a home here since the WNBA's Charlotte Sting played their final game in 2007.

The Charlotte Crown is already bringing winning energy to the Queen City, claiming its first victory last week with a 103-95 win over the Jacksonville Waves.

Their message for you? "I want all the loud noises, a sea of purple, and I want [the home opener] to feel electric," Center Emer Nichols told CLTtoday.
