Helene left the front nine holes of the Asheville Municipal Golf Course in dire straits, needing months of debris and silt removal. The golf course will eventually be restored to its original Donald Ross design, but in the meantime, you can play on a new 18-hole championship-length disc golf course.

Designed with the help of US Disc Golf Champion Chris Dickerson, the par 61 course will open to the public on Friday, Aug. 1 at 9 a.m., with two tee pad placements per hole. The blue layout measures 7,900+ feet, and the red layout extends more than 6,600 feet.

You can go ahead and book a tee time, but walk-ins are welcome. Here's what it'll cost you to play:

Single round: $10, $7 for locals
All-day: $18, $13 for locals

According to the city's project page for the golf course restoration and Muni's website, the front nine are expected to reopen in mid-2027. The back nine are open for play.
