While Midwestern weather has us wrapped up like foil-covered ballpark dogs, we’re rounding third on the wait for Royals baseball. If you’re feeling blue (in the best way) ahead of Opening Day, here’s the play-by-play before our boys take on the Cleveland Guardians at The K next Thursday, March 27.

On and off the field

Feels like an eon since last season, right? After a long-awaited postseason return, the Royals’ offseason was a quiet one—aside from our shortstop’s "Witt-a-burger" wedding.

On the diamond, familiar faces like Salvador Perez and Vinny Pasquantino are back, while fresh talent is warming up in the wings. Keep these rising stars on your radar:

Jac Caglianone, 1B (MLB No. 22)
Blake Mitchell, C (MLB No. 48)
Carter Jensen, C (MLB No. 85)

Tune in from home

FanDuel Sports Network will air 154 of 162 games, with 10 simulcast on KCTV5 (CBS) and KSMO (MyNetwork). See the full broadcast schedule to stay in the loop.

Locals can also listen to games all season long on KC’s newly-minted sports-only FM radio station, 96.5 The Fan.
