Let's ride, Louisville.

This Sunday, Oct. 20, the section of Bardstown Road between Grinstead Drive and Douglass Boulevard in the Highlands will be closed to car traffic from 2 to 6 p.m. for Tom Owen CycLOUvia.

Bring your bike, skates, or just your walking shoes to explore the local businesses — free from motor vehicles. Temps are projected to rise throughout this week, so it should be a perfect weekend for a ride.

Car traffic will still be able to cross Bardstown Road at a controlled intersection with Eastern Parkway.

This CycLOUvia is named in celebration of Tom Owen, a former District 8 Councilman, cyclist advocate, and archivist + historian at UofL. To see more of Owen + learn about Louisville history, check out his bike-themed "Hometown Louisville" series.

Bonus: If you're looking for fellow cyclists to join up with, check out our guide to local bike groups.
