May is National Bike Month — an initiative established in 1956 to celebrate the benefits of bicycling.

Since Indy is working to increase its bikeability score with the expansion of the Cultural Trail, we’re sharing six local shops where you can purchase a new or used bicycle (or tune up the one you have).

BOI Bicycle Outfitters Indy, 1309 S. High School Rd.
Bicycle Garage Indy & BGI Fitness, 4340 E 82nd St.
Indy Cycle Specialist, 5804 E. Washington St.
The Bike Line, 6520 Cornell Ave.
Gray Goat Bicycle Co., 1201 Prospect St., Ste. B
Freewheelin' Community Bikes, 3355 Central Ave.

Mark your calendar. Bike to Work Week is next week Monday, May 15-Sunday, May 21 + Bike to Work Day is on Friday, May 19.
