The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art is inviting Hoosiers to pop in and visit a traveling exhibit exploring the life + work of pop art icon Andy Warhol.

When you think of Andy Warhol, the Campbell’s Soup Can or Gold Marilyn Monroe might come to mind, but “Warhol’s West” — opening this Sat., March 12 and running through Sun., Aug. 7 — will dive into the fascination he had with the American West and Native Americans.

During the final years of Warhol’s career, his interest in the American West and Native American art came to the forefront of his work, especially because Warhol grew up at a time when Westerns were popular in film + television.

“Warhol’s West” will display his works “while exploring themes of American nostalgia, exploitation, appropriation, and progress.”

Throughout the exhibition, there will be a series of public programs where visitors can learn more about Warhol and his work.
