It's been 23 years since nearly 3,000 people lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. Since then, the day has offered people across the United States a chance to honor and respect those who died during the tragedy.

In Tampa Bay, you can do so at the following sites:

Near Bay to Bay Boulevard, this memorial contains a column from the North Tower of the World Trade Center. It also functions as a sundial, casting shadows to tell stories of the day's events.

Pay homage in the Warehouse Arts District, where this sculpture opened in 2021. The piece represents rebirth and an emergence from tragedy, as a phoenix rises from the ashes to look forward as a community while honoring the past.
