After a 4-year, $400 million renovation project, the iconic Hotel del Coronado has
debuted its newest addition: Shore House at The Del — an oceanfront neighborhood of 75 residential-style accommodations featuring one, two, or three bedrooms.

The opening of the so-called “resort within a resort” officially marks the completion of The Del’s “Master Plan,” a high-profile makeover designed to preserve the landmark hotel’s history while keeping the property “at the top of its game for another 100 years.”

Let’s take a closer look at Shore House, plus other post-renovation upgrades locals + visitors can find these days at The Del.

👑 The crowning achievement

Designed by architecture firm LEO A DALY, Shore House debuted over the weekend with major elevated beach house vibes +these bells and whistles:

A dedicated resort entrance, check-in experience + valet. 🛎️
A zero-edge, oceanfront pool with day beds, loungers + private cabanas — and a poolside bar. 🏊
The Bistro, a new all-day dining eatery with chef’s table events, wine tastings + demos. 🍷
Lounge areas + fire pits, where a “Blue Hour” menu with chef’s curated light bites + a signature cocktail will be offered daily, just after sunset — as blue-hued twilight rolls in. 🌅
Wellness offerings like seaside spin classes, beach yoga + pilates, and personal training. 🧘

Did you know? Shore House is the fifth “neighborhood” experience within the hotel — in addition to Beach Village, The Cabanas (the center of The Del), The Victorian (hello, original red turrets + architecture), and The Views. Shore House rates start at $1,299 per night.

The Del’s general manager, Harold Rapoza, said this final piece of the renovation puzzle is “the crowning achievement” of the hotel’s Master Plan.

We got a sneak peek of Shore House at The Del over the weekend; the beachfront views + sparkling pool did not disappoint.

🥂 What else is new?

Known for its beachfront glitz + glamor, Hotel del Coronado has been welcoming travelers to Coronado Island since January 1888. When the Master Plan began in 2019, Rapoza said the renovation had been in the works for more than a decade and — while new elements would be added — historic preservation was top priority.

The Master Plan included five components during it 2019-2022 construction timeline:

The main entry: Focused on the hotel’s historic sense of “grand arrival,” crews restored The Del’s original front porch + the lobby (aka the “Rotunda” when the hotel first opened). The lobby was expanded to its original size and Victorian elements returned.
The conference center: Modern meeting + event spaces were added; check them out.
Underground parking: Two underground garages, totaling 1,179 spaces — the second of which is set to be completed this fall.
An additional 144 guest rooms + suites.
Nearby street beautification: Enhancements along Orange Avenue including a new landscaped sidewalk + safety improvements to Avenida del Sol.
