Grab some Milk Duds and an oversized soda — the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) arrives this week.

While SIFF shows movies all year long at various venues, this is the month the organization really shines. Its popular fest runs Thursday, May 15 through Sunday, May 25 for its in-person screenings, with a week of flick-streaming at home to follow.

The sheer number of cinematic options can be overwhelming, so here are some pro tips:

You can sort screenings by theme, including films with local ties and family-friendly fare.
The opening and closing night parties still have tickets left — watch out for the paparazzi.
Be sure to check out a tribute to 80s fantasy classic “The Dark Crystal” on Tuesday, May 20, with a live DJ.
Feel special — there are nine movies that you can only stream in Washington state.
The Stranger has also prepared a pretty comprehensive guide if you want some expert recommendations.

Passes and individual tickets are on sale now.
