It's the age-old question for many Seattleites while basking in the summer sun, cold drink in hand: "do I know anyone with a boat?"

It's not that we're ever ungrateful for the beauty of our famously short summers, but it's just that we could be having so much more fun cruising through the waves of Lake Union or Lake Washington.

Meet Getmyboat, an Airbnb-like service that allows Seattleites to rent out other people's boats.

🚤 How it works

The interface is fairly simple — all you have to do is create an account and start searching for the watercraft that best suits your needs for the day (think: catamarans, pontoons, yachts, jet skis, and more). Prices range from as low as $75 per hour to $1,375 an hour — so get as fancy as you want.

Some rental options also include a captain for those without a boating license. Reservations can also be made as quickly as next-day (for all you last-minute adventurers).

🚤 What we're eyeing

With ~160 active listings in Seattle, there's a lot to sort through. Here are some of our faves (because we also couldn't resist window-shopping):

Sunseeker 65’ Voted Best Charter 2023 | This listing has some royal energy — get a whole crew to tow you around on the lake whilst you enjoy the wet bar, sound system, and cash in on the opportunity to use the boat for an overnight trip to the San Juan Islands.

Classic Trawler for Lake Union | Are you going to tell us that you don't need a 38-foot trawler featuring party lights, a karaoke system, two mini fridges, and rentable hydrafoils in your life? Right, you're not.

Beautiful 57' Lagoon Sailing Catamaran | Yo-ho, yo-ho, a pirate's life for me — take a sailing cruise on this vessel with a trampoline space and available kayaks + paddleboards.
