If you're looking for a flick with unique Seattle flavor, “Fantasy A Gets a Mattress” is our pick.

The indie comedy follows the fictional adventures of real-life local celebrity Fantasy A (Alexander Hubbard), a young rapper with autism. It touches on serious subject matters with surrealistic humor, and has received accolades all-year long.

Fantasy A is the star, but Seattle deserves Best Supporting Performance. The Smith Tower gets prominent screen time, as do these lesser-known landmarks described by the movie's director Noah Zoltan Sofian.

Used tire shop on Rainier Avenue: It's “a perfect example of Seattle’s under-seen grit.”
Zesto’s: “Shown only at night, the drive-through takes on a ghostly vibe.”
U District dumpsters: “We’re constantly hearing 'I know where those are!'”

Catch the movie at the SIFF Cinema Egyptian this Saturday, Dec. 9, where it’s among the nominees for the Seattle Film Critics Society PNW Award.
