Last spring, the people of Richmond voted on how they wanted $2.8 million in city funds and $220,000 of reserve funding allocated across our nine community districts. This is the Richmond People's Budget (RVAPB).

"Our city. Our money. Our ideas."

Public polling results narrowed down 33 neighborhood projects, including pedestrian safety improvements, community garden additions, library upgrades, new bus shelters, art installations, and enhanced green spaces.

It sounds like a lot to keep up with, but fortunately, you don’t have to scour the internet to get straight to the source.

How to track projects in your neighborhood

Projects are underway across all districts, and a few are already marked as complete, including a tree planting spree in District 3 (Northside). Aside from the occasional mini vlog to share an on-site update, the RVAPB team maintains two main project tracking sites:

Visit the online map to gauge project areas and basic details.
If you want to track updates and progress, these summarized cards are your go-to online destination.

RVAPB intends to update these resources as substantial developments occur. Eventually, organizers may update online cards with ribbon-cutting or unveiling announcements once projects are complete.

Project example

Of the 33 selected projects, one involves a $30,000 investment in the Hickory Hill Community Center in District 8, Southside.

Investments include:

a rainwater collection system
shaded seating installations
free little library installation
additional funding for community programs

Latest updates:

The rainwater catchment system was installed last fall. Now, RVAPB representatives are in the process of acquiring new benches and a free little library. Installation is slated for this summer.
