Wish you could have a say in improving our region's roads? Good news — you can.

Every two years, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority shares a list of transportation project proposals and asks for public comment. You can share your thoughts on each project through Thursday, Feb. 22.

But what are the projects? We're glad you asked. There are over 30 of them, divided into fives categories: Bike/Ped, Highway, Preliminary Engineering, Study, and Transit. Altogether, they total an estimated $151.5 million in funding over the next four years.

We made an interactive map so you can easily explore the projects and see which ones might impact your area.

Here are a few particulars we noticed:

The Transit category includes GRTC requesting some funding for three projects — the north/south BRT line, the Pulse extension west to Parham, and the Downtown Transit Hub.
Highway is the most populous category by a wide margin, but many of those projects also include pedestrian and bike improvements.
Several of the proposals include preparing stretches of road for the future Fall Line Trail.

Click around the map to see what projects were submitted. Not all projects are seeking full funding from CVTA. For more information on specific projects, click the "More Info" button on each point.

Once you've explored the map, you can add comments directly on the CVTA website. There will also be a public hearing on Friday, Feb. 23 at 9 a.m., which you can attend virtually or in person at PlanRVA's Hull Street office.
