Virginia is for lovers. If you need proof, just look at all the LOVE signs scattered around the Commonwealth. But today, we’re talking about a specific kind of love.

Knowing your love language can help you prep for the most romantic day of the year. Here are our recommendations for activities + places around Richmond based on your love language.

Don’t know your love language? Take this quiz to find out what you value in a relationship.

Physical Touch

If there’s nothing you like more than a good hug from a loved one or cuddling on the couch with a glass of wine, we recommend taking a class with Hand / Thrown and living out your “Ghost” fantasy.

Acts of Service

If the way you express your love is by doing helpful things for others (Think: helping with the dishes, opening doors, or running errands), we suggest a volunteering date to satisfy that giving heart. You can check out HandsOn Greater Richmond for all kinds of opportunities to lend a helping hand.

Receiving Gifts

If you think of gifts as symbolic of love and affection, you’re in luck. There’s no shortage when it comes to shopping in the 804. Pick out something for the local artisan lover at Shelley’s Gift Shop or Pop of Confetti, hunt for a vintage treasure at Nest Antiques, or keep it classic with something special from Mongrel.

Quality Time

If you like to express your affection through spending undivided attention, we recommend a stroll through Maymont, along the T. Pott. Bridge, or around Libby Hill Park.

Words of Affirmation

If you are someone that loves verbal or written compliments expressing love and appreciation, hear the poets at the Word of Mouth open mic and take notes, or pick out some Merrymaker Fine Paper stationery to pen a thoughtful letter.

Cheers to spreading the love, Richmond. ❤️
