Less than a month after a new software provider was announced, the city has unveiled a relaunch date for RVA Bike Share. Starting Monday, Aug. 21, Richmonders will be able to borrow a bike from 26 different stations around the city. The program will also be free through the end of the year.

The micromobility program originally launched in 2017. It suspended service in May when the previous contractor, Bewegen Technologies, abruptly shut down. The city signed a one-year deal this summer with WeGoShare as a technological partner. Operations and maintenance will be managed by a company called Evolve Mobility.

The relaunch day will also feature a new station opening at Dominion Energy Center. In its relaunch press release, the Dept. of Public Works teased more station openings before the end of the year.

Want to get riding? All registered users will be able to ride for free through Sunday, Dec. 31. Once the program relaunches, Richmonders will be able to download the RVA Bike Share app and get set up.
