In 2024 San Antonians made more than 7,100 calls to the City’s 311 hotline to report potholes. Sixteen Pothole Patrol crews fixed 14,588 road blemishes throughout that same year. I

We're here to break down the process of reporting these menaces + introduce to the team fighting these asphalt woes in the hopes of saving you a trip to the auto body shop.

Spot-a-pothole

Knowing the difference between a pothole and pavement repair is key when reporting to the city. Let's compare:

Pothole: 3 ft by 3 ft or smaller in size
Pavement repair: Larger than 3 ft by 3 ft

Found one? Wonderful, go ahead take note of the neighborhood or street intersections that can closely identify where it is located. Save this for later.

Report-a-pothole

Reporting a pothole is as easy as dialing 311. The Pothole Patrol consists of 16 crews across four service centers covering the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest regions of the city.

The patrol can fix these street cysts within two business days of being reported and takes 20 minutes to repair.

Pro tip: You can also use the city’s 311SA Mobile App for pothole reporting + other service requests.

Pothole Patrol Blitz

The Public Works Department and San Antonio Pothole Patrol is kicking off the 9th Annual Pothole Patrol Blitz. During this time, the department hosts various pop-up events throughout April, promoting civic engagement with locals as they identify + fix a holey moley goal of 10,000 potholes during the month.

And the best part? The Pothole Patrol will be giving away Fiesta medals for the first 100 attendees as well as different swag at each pop-up event.
