Newbie and veteran audiophiles unite — it's vinyl-ly Record Store Day on Saturday, April 20.

Whether you’re a Gorillaz fan eyeing the "Cracker Island (Deluxe Vinyl Edition)," or a Pop Rock enthusiast eager to listen to the sweet bliss of the "The 1975 Live at Gorilla", this list has something for everyone.

What is Record Store Day?

Record Store Day occurs twice a year: once in the spring and again on Black Friday. On these days, musicians release limited copies of specific albums on vinyl. While some prints may get re-released in the future, once they’re gone, they’re gone.

Participating locations

Here are some record stores in the Alamo City participating in Record Store Day:

CD Sam, 4522 Fredericksburg Rd.
Batcave Vinyl, 555 W. Bitters Rd.

Do your homework

Vinyl collectors are among the most dedicated. Here are three tips to survive Record Store Day:

Have an idea of what you want before going. The special releases list is out for you to review beforehand.
Long lines are inevitable (we’ve seen people start lining up in the wee hours of the morning), so we also recommend grabbing your favorite breakfast + coffee and dressing appropriately for the weather.
Remember that just because it’s on the Record Store Day list does not guarantee a store will carry it. Call ahead and your friendly clerk can give you an idea of what items will be available.
Lastly, for year-round shopping, give our San Antonio record store guide a needle drop.
