Are you ready for the most wonderful time of the year, Fort Worth? The Parade of Lights — one of the city’s most cherished seasonal events — will celebrate its 41st year of bringing holiday cheer to downtown this Sunday, Nov. 19.

This year’s theme is “Holiday Magic” with TCU head coach Sonny Dykes as the Grand Marshal. An opening ceremony will kick off the festive fun at 6 p.m. at Weatherford and Throckmorton Streets.

Here’s what you need to know ahead of Texas’ largest illuminated holiday parade.

By the numbers

100+ floats will parade through downtown
500,000 lights will illuminate the city
100,000 people are expected to attend, so get there early
35 streets will be closed on Sunday starting at 4 p.m.

Parade route and schedule

The parade will commence shortly after 6 p.m. and take about 40 minutes to make its way through downtown. Here’s the route it will follow:

East on Weatherford Street to Commerce Street
South to 9th Street
West to Houston Street
North on 2nd Street
West to Throckmorton
South to 3rd Street

Once the parade concludes, families can take pictures with Santa, grab a hot chocolate, and check out the Sundance Square Christmas tree.

Last-minute pro tips

Free and paid parking options (inside garages) are available throughout the area. Meters are free on the weekend or avoid traffic and take the TEXRail into Central Station, about two blocks from the parade route.

Ensure you have the best seat by purchasing a street-side ticket in advance for $25+. You can also watch the route from the sidewalk but expect the best seats to be chosen pretty early.

If you’d rather stay warm indoors, you can watch the parade on channel KTXA 21.
