Changes are coming to the Reid Cabaret Theatre at Casa Mañana. The 64-year-old performance venue at 3101 W. Lancaster Ave. is looking forward to a new tomorrow + we have all the details.

Dinner and a show

The Reid Cabaret Theatre, a performance space in the building’s lobby, opened in 2018 and has staged 20+ shows. After the success of the small-scale venue, Casa Mañana has decided to expand the seating capacity from 70 to 104 with a 1,700-sqft renovation. The project also includes an additional 2,100 sqft for a new bar, office space + a full kitchen to provide guests with a food option during shows.

“Our version of the cabaret attempts to take you back to the supper club era,” Wally Jones, Casa Mañana president and executive director, told us. “We want you to feel like you are in NYC seeing Frank Sinatra or Franky Valli in an intimate setting.”

The renovation, overseen by PRIM Construction, is expected to wrap up in time for the opening of “Christmas with Nat and Natalie” on Tues., Nov., 29.

The show must go on

But that’s not all. In August 2022, the organization will take on a renovation of the iconic domed theater, originally designed by A. George King, Henry Kaiser, and Richard Buckminster Fuller. The boxes and rows F-H of sections two and three will be upgraded with more comfortable seating and side tables for drink service.

Both renovation projects will occur between productions and should not affect the upcoming season — which kicks off on Sat., Sept. 10 with a production of “My Way: A Musical Tribute to Frank Sinatra.”
