As part of the Capital Improvement Project, which aims to improve infrastructure + facilities across the city, the Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department will host a community meeting to discuss the planned changes to North Riverside Dr. — from Clary Ave. to Northeast 28th St.

Here’s everything you need to know before you go.

When + where

Wed., Nov. 17 at 6 p.m.
Riverside Community Center, 3700 E. Belknap St.

Why the change?

Residents have reported the following concerns:

Increased speeding
Street racing
Reckless driving (as it relates to pedestrian safety)
Walkability and bike safety

Planned improvements

A study was done last summer to determine what changes are needed to improve driver and pedestrian safety. Here are a few of the recommendations:

Reduce the number of lanes from 4 to 3
Reduce lane width
Reduce speed limit
Create bike lanes
Add a two-lane left turn lane

Expected benefits

Crash reduction of 19-47% (especially rear-end and left-turn crashes)
More predictable path for emergency responders
Increased distance between roadway + sidewalks due to bike lane

No advanced notice is required to attend or participate in the discussion.
