Slime green word salad. Viral TikTok dances. Your Gen Z + millennial relatives calling you “so brat.” It’s been a “brat summer” whether you knew it or not, so we’re here to explain what it means and how to get in on the fun.

British singer Charli XCX’s album “brat” was released on June 7 and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard charts. Its 15 tracks examine existential topics like womanhood, family, and insecurity — all with an electric veneer of dance-pop partying. In essence, to be a “brat” is to be yourself, flaws and all, while still having fun.

Now that you’re caught up on the lingo, here are three spots to live out your very own “brat summer” in the Big D.

Susanne Bartsch: On Top Dallas| It'll Do | Friday, Aug. 9 | Party with a legendary "brat" club kid of the 1980s. Legendary event promoter Susanne Bartsch will take over this electronic artsy club this Friday.

Dolly Python| How can you have a "brat" summer without having clothes to match the aesthetic? It's time to wake up your inner "Julia" at this vintage shop.

Brat Rave - A Night Dedicated to Charli & Party Girl Anthems | The Studio at the Factory | Sept. 20 | End the summer of all summers the "brat" way. Get sweaty and dance the night away listening to Charli XCX and other electronic beats at this all-ages rave.

Mother's House | We aren't saying that you have to get a tattoo to be considered brat, but it definitely wouldn't hurt. After getting your new ink, hit the clubs in Oak Lawn.
