Let’s talk about showing love through communication. What do we mean? We’re talking about exploring the five love languages.

Here’s a breakdown to help you determine what your love language is along with our recommendations for activities + places around Austin you might enjoy.

❤️ Quality Time

If you like to express your affection through spending undivided attention, we recommend strolling along the Boardwalk at Lady Bird Lake, where you’ll find an installation of 36 cast bronze, western-style belts on the railings of the boardwalk that feature song lyrics from popular Texas singers + songwriters.

❤️ Physical Touch

If there’s nothing you like more than a good hug from a loved one or cuddling on the couch in front of the television, we recommend snuggling up in the car to watch a movie at Blue Starlite Mini Urban Drive-In.

❤️ Receiving Gifts

If you think of gifts as symbolic of love and affection, you’re in luck. From unique gifts from Uncommon Objects to handmade goods from Ten Thousand Villages, there isn’t a shortage of great gift ideas in Austin.

❤️ Words of Affirmation

If you are someone that loves verbal or written compliments expressing love and appreciation, feel supported by encouraging words while taking a bouldering class at the Austin Bouldering Project or join a free program to speak or hear beautiful words through the Austin Poetry Society.

❤️ Acts of Service

If the way you express your love is by helping others (Think: volunteering to wash the dishes, opening doors, or running errands), we suggest a volunteer date to satisfy that giving heart. Take a look at the city’s website for multiple opportunities to lend a helping hand.
