The votes are in: A new 60,000-seat, enclosed stadium will rise in Music City.

The $2.1 billion Titans stadium deal cleared its final hurdle Tuesday night after five hours of public comment and months of negotiations. Metro Council approved the proposal in a 26-12 vote.

If you’re waking up to this news, put 60 seconds on the clock for this quick rundown of the vote and what’s next.

Let’s run it back

The council approved two pieces of legislation related to the stadium deal, including the overall financing plan.

The Titans and the NFL will contribute $840 million, with the remaining funds coming from revenue bonds issued by the Metro Sports Authority ($760 million) and a one-time state contribution ($500 million).

Metro Council also approved the creation of the Nashville Needs Impact Fund to help provide resources for Davidson County nonprofits. The Tennessee Titans will contribute $1 million to the fund in the first year of the lease, totaling ~$47 million over the next 30 years.

What now?

The stadium is moving forward, but questions remain on the final design and construction timeline. Here are a few key details to know as the project moves forward:

The new stadium will be constructed east of Nissan Stadium on land that is currently parking lots.
Nissan Stadium will be demolished after the new structure is operational. Metro will receive ~66 acres of land along the Cumberland River, including the existing stadium site.
The new stadium will host Titans and TSU games + a variety of “other sporting, entertainment, and civic events,” according to the team. It could also host the Super Bowl, professional and college playoffs, and WrestleMania.
