Did you know that January is National Hobby Month? In honor of the month celebrating different activities + folks pursuing new interests, here are six local examples of how you can expand your list of hobbies.

Birdwatching

If you're interested in discovering the vast array of bird species that call Southeast Tennessee home, Chattanooga has some prime birdwatching locations like Reflection Riding Arboretum & Nature Center and Maclellan Island.

Looking to join a group for your birding activities? Join spots like Audubon Acres that host guided birdwatching events. The next Birding for Beginners experience is on Saturday, Jan. 29.

Cooking + baking

If you're looking to take your cooking or baking skills to the next level, check out a class with The Sweet & Savory Classroom. Pro tip: If you're wanting to take a cooking class with a partner, check out the date night offerings.

If watching "The Great British Baking Show" is one of your favorite pastimes, we recommend trying out a hands-on baking class with The Chattery — try your hand at baking scones on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
