Mother’s Day is Sun., May 9 — five days away — and the ol’ breakfast-in-bed standby could use an upgrade.

Take our suggestions below — which we curated using recommendations from local retailers + readers — and give the gift that shows love for mom + Scenic City businesses.

💐 Word to Your Mother

The Chattery’s Mother’s Day market + sidewalk shop, called Word to Your Mother | Sat., May 8 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m | The Chattery, 1800 Rossville Ave. | Find vendors with everything from flowers and coffee to pottery and jewelry + complimentary snacks.

Bonus: You can also get two of The Chattery’s new kits — one to help mom relax and another to support mom-owned businesses.

💐 Mum-believeable gifts

Locals Only Gifts & Goods has done some of the work for you with Mother's Day Gift Boxes + Gift Guides.

We suggest:

💐 A mom-mentous market

K & S Southern Hospitality Events Funkey Munkey Mother’s Day Market | Mon., May 3 - Sat.,. May 9 | Mall hours | Northgate Mall, 271 Northgate Mall Dr. near Belk | Vendors will have items including jewelry, artwork, home décor and baked goods.

💐 Mother of invention

We’ve told you about Humanaut before, and they have a product that will help take your card to a mother level. With Felt, you can use technology but keep the personal touch and create a handmade card.

ProTip: Add photos.

💐 Take it to a mother level

If you’re still stumped, consider:

Mothers Day Restorative & Aromatherapy with Cindy Reed
This sunflower clutch from Sophie’s
A manicure from Yelp’s top-rated Nails at Northshore, dinner at Steverino's (or a snack from Clumpies) and a stroll across the Walnut Street Bridge
