The Songbirds Foundation + The Chattanooga Public Library have teamed up to debut a new exhibit installation at the Downtown branch.

Beginning Thursday, June 27, folks can see an installation dedicated to The Impressions, a music group that included Chattanooga natives Fred Cash + Sam Gooden.

The exhibit will feature new items from Songbirds’ collection and will tell the story of the band — from their start in Chattanooga to becoming part of the soundtrack of America’s Civil Rights Movement.

"We can never do enough to honor this group and celebrate their message of hope and togetherness," said Songbirds Executive Director Reed Caldwell. "I hope this exhibit can help people understand the importance of this band and their music.”

A free opening reception for the exhibition will be held on Thursday, June 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. featuring performances by local musicians + complimentary wine. The installation will be on display through June 28, 2025.
