The Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas will host the third annual James Baldwin Festival of Words from Friday, Aug. 23 to Sunday, Aug. 25.

Named after the legendary novelist, essayist, playwright, and activist James Baldwin, this year's festival will also honor his 100th birthday. The events are intended to showcase emerging + established local Black artists who are "creating, innovating, and producing extraordinary work in the literary arts."

The festival will have a full weekend of events to engage, entertain, and educate readers, writers, and supporters of the arts. Note: Some events are free to attend, but donations are appreciated.

Local Black authors will have booths set up to sell + promote their books at the Literary Lounge event. | Photo provided by Chattanooga Festival of Black Arts & Ideas
