This Sunday – it’s time to shine the spotlight on dad. Whether they were helping us with our sixth-grade math homework or changing the oil in our car, our fathers provided for us + influenced us in their own paternal ways. So, how do we say thanks?

Start with a hug – to remind them that their children are the ultimate gift, after all. But, if you’re after something extra + a bit more personalized, we’ve unearthed a selection of local gems (some suggested by you– our lovely readers) to gift the father figures in your life.

Peruse the list below to find the perfect present to thank the man who made both dad jokes + dad bod a trend.

⚽ For the sports fanatic

Reader @gina_frye suggested getting the dad who screams at the TV when a sports game is on a season pass or tickets to Chattanooga FC games. If your dad is more of a Red Wolves fan, check out ticket options here.

If soccer isn’t dad’s sport, the Chattanooga Lookouts season or individual game tickets are also a great option.

🍻 For the brew-lover

@huttonsandsmithbrewing recommended getting dads Hutton and Smith gift certificates, beer, and swag.

@canyon_corazon suggested Chattanooga Whiskey products.

You can also find gifts for your craft connoisseur at Chattanooga Brewing co., Heaven & Ale Brewing Co., and Naked River Brewing Co.

☕ For the early-riser

For the dad that wakes up early (or just loves coffee), you could get a number of Chattanooga coffee shop gift cards and mugs, or even take him on a coffee date for some one-on-one time – i.e. coffee for you, too. 😉

Some great local coffee joints include Rembrandt’s Coffee House, Milk and Honey, Stone Cup Cafe, and Mean Mug Coffee house.

🚴 For the outdoorsman

@shelbyoutside mentioned that Rock/Creek will provide half price rentals for dads on Father’s Day, so if your dad is a bike, paddleboard, or kayak lover, this could be THE gift for him. If he needs outdoor apparel or accessories, try visiting one of the many Rock/Creek locations in Chattanooga and find various Father’s Day sales.

🍗 For the foodie

For the dad that loves to grill, bake, and cook, Locals Only has lots of local foods such as corn bread and biscuit mix, Hoff’s BBQ sauce, or Main Street Meats bacon jam. If you want to bundle food gifts, you could give their Southern Breakfast Gift Box or the Big Taste of Chattanooga Box.

🚣 For the adventure-seeker

@lancemomma recommended hang gliding – and Lookout Mountain Flight Park provides the perfect place for thrill-seeking dads to fly. If your dad is less of an adrenaline junkie, but still likes adventure, take him a little further out in Chattanooga for some whitewater rafting down the Ocoee River.

From the stay-at-home, to the nine-to-five, to the dads who made us take sample SAT exams to earn our practice hours for Driver’s Ed. – (we won’t name names, but they know who they are) – we want to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all.
