Picture this, NOOGA: Unexpected company is coming over in 30 minutes. Your house isn't exactly tidy. What do you do to make it at least appear cleaner?

We put this question to readers + you all came through with practical + hilarious tips.

“1. Throw all dirties in the dishwasher/washing machine. (10 minutes) 2. Spray some febreeze (60 seconds) 3. Throw random clutter in a room they won't go in (10 minutes) 4. Wipe down surfaces (5 minutes) 5. Leaving 4 minutes to catch your breath and casually make some lemonade.” — @chattographer

“Put crime scene tape around your house and hope they just keep driving. 🤷🏻‍♀️” — Allison C.

“Our goal is to keep everything ⅔ of the way tidy so that if we have unexpected visitors, it's no big deal. Our house is also clean, but very ‘lived in.’ Our bed may not be made and there might be dishes in the sink, but your guest room and bathroom are clean!” — Ashton F.

“Unexpected guests get what they get. That may include people in a questionable attire.”
— Robert M.
