If Chattanooga dog owners had to name their least favorite chore, picking up poop would probably top the list. Local 14-year-old Leighton Carter saw that as a business opportunity.

She started Scoopy Doo LLC with her dad, Brandon, in January 2025. Today, the business offers weekly, biweekly, or one-time pet waste removal for homeowners, apartment complexes, and commercial properties.

"We started with one yard," Brandon said. "Less than a year later, [we were] cleaning up after hundreds of dogs every week."

The business has grown to more than 150 customers across Chattanooga and North Georgia.

"I wanted to prove that a kid could run a real business and do it well," Leighton said. “Seeing 86 families leave us five-star reviews means everything to me.”

So how does it work? Customers get a text when the crew is on the way and a photo confirming the gate is securely closed when they leave.
