The James Beard Awards are the culinary industry’s highest honor, and Greenville has its first-ever winner, but it's not a chef. Rather, local filmmakers — Undercurrent Film Company — brought home the award for "Visual Media - Short Form" at the annual ceremony in Chicago.

The winning film titled "Great Wall" was Director Rioin Oshiro's idea. It followed Khailing Neoh as she opened the popular downtown dim sum restaurant Sum Bar.

"We came from different places but were united through food, " Oshiro explained about his discovery of Neoh's story while making his acceptance speech.

"Great Wall" beat CBS Sunday Morning's segment “Remembrance: Recreating a Jewish family’s recipes” + the La Mafia channel on YouTube for their popular video series “Caminante.”

You can watch the film now, read more about it from the Greenville Journal, and celebrate with an order of the restaurant's signature "tiny bubbles" during your next trip to Sum Bar.
