Feed & Seed Co., located in the new Warehouse at Judson Mill (701 Easley Bridge Rd., Ste. 6010), officially opened the doors to its Food Innovation Hub on Sat., April 9.

The 18,000-sqft space features:

A market (open Tues.-Sat., 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.) with fresh produce like locally-grown carrots, prepared meals, and a variety of grocery items like stone-ground grits, jam, and laundry soap
A café equipped with a commercial kitchen that serves breakfast (8-11 a.m.) + lunch (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) Tues.-Sat. — we’re talking waffles with fresh fruit skewers and a buffalo chicken salad wrap with grilled chicken
A warehouse space for processing things like new product shipments + FoodShare boxes
The Hayne Hipp Community Room for classes + meeting space for local organizations and farmers

Feed & Seed Co. Board Chair Mary Hipp says the nonprofit focuses on supporting the local food systems that address:

Fresh food accessibility: Both the market + café offer fresh produce and locally grown, seasonal produce like sweet potatoes, carrots, and beans.
Affordability: While shelves are stocked with locally-made, organic products like Perone’s gourmet marinara sauce (~$8) or Adams Apple Co. Apple Butter (~$6), you can also find options like Welch’s Concord Grape Jelly (~$3).
Farmer support: Feed & Seed Co. supports farmers in a variety of ways, from connecting them with resources that help distribute their crops to taking on the cleaning + packaging of produce like collard greens.
Food waste: Instead of end of season produce being tossed, items can be turned into café menu offerings like soup (think: pureed carrots) or freeze-dried food.
