On Friday, Greenville County Schools released their in-person attendance schedule for students who choose to do in-person learning. With COVID-19 updates happening frequently, this new plan will allow students + parents to know what to expect week-to-week as these conditions continue to change.

Let’s break it down:

○ For students who select in-person school, they’ll be assigned a specific color determined by the first letter of their last name. A-D: blue, E-K: red, L-Q: green, R-Z: purple.

○ On weeks “when conditions permit,” students in all of the color groups can attend in-person school all five days.

○ On weeks when conditions do not permit (higher COVID-19 cases, larger numbers of student and/or teacher absences) and depending on those conditions, students in all of the color groups will either not attend in-person school or attend one or two days that particular week.

○ Students will do eLearning for all five days on weeks when in-person learning is not an option. If there is a week when only one day of in-person learning is allowed, students will do eLearning the other four days, and so on.

○ So, what about the colors? The color assignments will help determine which students show up which days when only a select few days of in-person learning are allowed. For example, if there is a week where only one day of in-person learning is allowed, students assigned the color blue will attend school on Monday, students assigned the color red will attend school on Tuesday, students assigned the color green will attend school on Wednesday, students assigned the color purple will attend school on Thursday, and all students will participate in eLearning on Fridays.

**Update: Since originally publishing this article, Greenville County Schools announced a change to their in-person attendance schedule. When two days of in-person attendance are permitted, blue + green students will attend school on Mon. and Wed. and red + purple students will attend schools on Tues. and Thurs. All students will participate in eLearning on Friday and on days they are not learning in-person. Read more here. The image above reflects this change.**
