Any Gamecocks out there?

If you studied at the University of South Carolina, you might sometimes feel like you’re alone in the Upstate. After all, there is another well known higher-ed institution 45 minutes down the road.

But take a look around, and you’ll see that Gamecocks are everywhere:

Longtime Greenville Mayor Knox White earned his law degree at USC.
Miss South Carolina and Upstate native Jada Samuel is a USC alumna.
Former Gamecock and Major League Baseball pitcher Michael Roth makes his home in the Upstate.

And there are many more.

In fact, the Greenville area is home to more than 28,000 alumni — making it the top destination for USC graduates after Columbia, South Carolina.

So, when the carloads of Gamecocks start arriving for the SEC women’s basketball tournament, just know that they’re not just bringing Gamecock Nation to Greenville — they’re joining the Carolina fans who are already here.
