It’s finally fall, y’all — and you know what else is around the corner? Cold season. 🤧

Many of us know that honey can help alleviate some of those allergy + cold symptoms, or at the very least sweeten a hot beverage — but the more local, the better. So, to wrap up National Honey Month (aka September), let’s talk about local honey.

The basics:

Where to get raw + natural honey? Located in Travelers Rest is the Carolina Honey Bee Company. You can stock up on their raw honey + other honey-themed items like creamed honey, honey hand soap, honey glazed pecans, etc. We personally always have a bottle of their honey in our pantries.

Drink up:

Another one of our favorite ways to enjoy honey is in the form of mead, and if you haven’t been yet, you can add a trip to Wandering Bard Meadery (located in Hampton Station) to your fall bucket list.

If you didn’t know or if you’ve never had it, mead is an alcoholic drink made from fermenting honey with other ingredients. Wandering Bard Meadery has a range of meads, from traditional to fruity to spiced — enough choices for there to surely be something to sweeten your senses.

Some sweet self-care:

If you’re looking for honey, mead, and honey-infused body products all in one place, then take a stroll down Main Street to Savannah Bee Company. They have a mead bar with tastings, a honey bar, and a variety of honey-infused wellness + beauty products.

And a Pro tip for fall, a little local honey added to some local bourbon and apple cider makes for a tasty fall treat.
