More than 14 years ago, world-renowned pianist Emanuel Ax performed pro-bono with the Charleston Symphony to help the organization through a difficult time.

Now, the Symphony is thrilled to welcome him back March 13-14 as it enters a new era of audience growth.

Ax is a Grammy-winning, Sony Classical exclusive artist, longtime collaborator of Yo-Yo Ma and Leonidas Kavakos, and was just named Musical America Artist of the Year.

He's also received some of classical music’s highest honors, including:

The Avery Fisher Prize
Fellowships in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Honorary doctorates from Yale, Columbia, and the New England Conservatory

The program features two works by Johannes Brahms, highlighting themes of growth and reflection:

Piano Concerto No. 1: written at age 25, showcasing youthful intensity and virtuosity
Symphony No. 3: composed at age 50, celebrated for its lyricism and emotional depth

Trust us: this is a concert you just have to experience live.
