This Sunday, it’s time to shine the spotlight on dad. Whether they were helping us with our sixth-grade math homework, or changing the oil in our car, our fathers provided for us + influenced us in their own paternal ways. So, how do we say thanks?

Start with a hug – to remind them that their children are the ultimate gift, after all. But, if you’re after something extra + a bit more personalized, we unearthed a selection of local gems to gift the strapping father figure in your life.

Peruse the list below to find the perfect present to thank the man who made both dad jokes + dad bod a trend.

🥩 The Grill Sergeant

Is your dad the grill master? The tamer of the flame? Does he have a license to grill? (We could keep going.) If so, Carolina Cooker has all of the fryers, BBQ cookers, + cast iron products to really step up his grilling game. This Southern-born brand offers a variety of skillets, dutch ovens, griddles, + stew pots for any dish + any occasion.

If he likes big cups + he cannot lie, give him the gift of a buzz with a slow-roasted blend from Charleston Coffee Roasters. From their whole-bean blends (for the pour-over connoisseur) to their K-cup pods (for the dad-on-the-go), these local roasters have the beans to please. For a thoughtful touch, check out their gift boxes – which include a 12-ounce bag of his preferred roast + a mug.

🏄‍♂️ The Soul Surfer

The sun + sand create the perfect zen– and the perfect spot to escape your children. Whether he likes to surf the blacktop, or the waves of the Atlantic, make sure he’s stocked with the salt-life essentials. Local surf shops, like Parrot Surf + Skate in Mt. Pleasant + McKevlin’s Surf Shop in Folly Beach, are loaded with the gear, apparel, + footwear he needs for his outdoor ocean adventures or skater boi life. Stay rad, dad.

For the dads who are all about that bass – reel him in a day on the water with All In One Charters. Charleston’s top inshore fishing charter company specializes in customized cruises, as well as nearshore + offshore fishing. With Captain Ronnie at the wheel, dad can take to the seas in search of top species like Reddrum, Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, + Sheepshead, plus enjoy the views of the city’s historic waterfront. May the bait be on his side.

👔 The Tie-riffic Dad

Maybe dad is already dapper, or maybe he needs a little help with his neck fashion– either way, Brackish Bow Ties has a collection of distinctive, handcrafted styles to complement the wardrobe of the modern dad or the Gene Shalit. Each feather is hand-picked + no two bow ties are alike– ensuring that the man of the house is trimmed in a one-of-a-kind accessory to suit his one-of-a-kind personality.

From the stay-at-home, to the nine-to-five, to the dads who made us take sample SAT exams to earn our practice hours for Driver’s Ed., (we won’t name names, but they know who they are), we want to wish a Happy Father’s Day to all.
