Rise and shine, campers. It’s Groundhog Day.

The more than 100-year-old tradition predicting the arrival of spring began on Feb. 2, 1887 in Punxsutawney, PA, when a newspaper editor declared the town’s groundhog Phil as the country’s “only true weather-forecasting groundhog.”

While some of you may be waiting to hear if we’ll have six more weeks of winter, many of you might be too busy wondering what it would be like to be stuck in a time loop reliving the same day over again. We have Bill Murray’s movie of the same name to thank for that.

We all know actor + comedian Bill Murray as the star of the 1993 film, but Charlestonians are lucky enough to spot him around town quite often. Between serving as Director of Fun for the Charleston RiverDogs, hanging out at Queen Street Grocery, and taking a snooze outside of local restaurants, Murray is no stranger in the Holy City.

So, it only felt right to honor him today + pose a question to our readers. If we could live any day in Charleston all over again, what would it be?

City Editors Lexa + Tatum would relive the solar eclipse across Charleston in 2017 + the great snowstorm of 2018.

To reminisce on days we’d play on repeat, we asked you what local day you wouldn’t mind having again. Here’s what you said:

“I’d relive the Luke Combs concert at Volvo Car Stadium in 2019.” — Reader Marissa G.

“May 30, 2019. My daughter’s wedding at Alhambra Hall.” — @momc2u

“The St. Patty’s Day Bar Crawl on King Street in 2020.” — Reader Kenzie G.

“The snow storm in 2018 — sledding down our neighborhood golf course.” — @isabellagarian

“When Joe Jonas ran the Ravenel in 2021.” — Reader Katie S.

“ [...] Travel down and visit with our son and daughter-in-law June 2021; drinks and ambiance at Carmella’s, visiting local beaches, and just in general having a wonderful time.” — @kimberly.hilliker.1

“August 14th, 2018 - when I started my first day at cofc. Now about to graduate in 3 months.” — @taylormhudson
