We can’t think of a better way to soak in Portland's greenspace than spending some time on the links. Whether you’re looking to connect outdoors with friends or you’re honing in on the perfect swing, here are 20 golf courses to make a tee time around the City of Roses.

Public courses

Eastmoreland Golf Course, 2425 SE Bybee Blvd., Portland | Oregon's second oldest golf course was originally built in 1917 for members of Multnomah Athletic Club.

Rose City Golf Club, 2200 NE 71st Ave., Portland | Throughout its storied history, this property has seen use from motorcycles, horses, trains, planes, and automobiles; today, players enjoy classic tree-lined fairways.

Heron Lakes Golf Club, 3500 N. Victory Blvd., Portland | Take your pick between two 18-hole courses designed by renowned architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. — the Great Blue Course or the Greenback Course — that are both challenging and fun regardless of your skill level.

Wildwood Golf Course, 21881 NW St Helens Rd., Portland | Players are rewarded for the drive outside of town with sweeping forest vistas and elevation changes that test your mettle.

Glendoveer Golf & Tennis, 14015 NE Glisan St., Portland | Try the East Course for more challenging, curving fairways or the West Course's open fairways — either way, you get 18 holes and small/fast greens.

Langdon Farms Golf Club, 24377 Airport Rd. NE, Aurora | This course prides itself on its drainage, enabling players to enjoy the course year round.

Members only

Columbia Edgewater Country Club, 2220 NE Marine Dr. | Known for hosting prestigious tournaments (like the Portland Classic on the LPGA Tour), this course's sand traps and water hazards are all the encouragement you need to hit the green.

Riverside Golf & Country Club, 8105 NE 33rd Dr. | Sporting the "most welcoming membership in town," this course also hosts the Hogan Cup, a competition that's brought the West Coast's best high school golfers together for 50 years.

Portland Golf Club, 5900 SW Scholls Ferry Rd., Portland | Four sets of tees are available to adjust the experience to your game, but advanced players can stretch the course to over 7,000 yards with the new "Hudson Tees."

Waverly Country Club, 1100 SE Waverly Dr., Portland | Picturesque views of the Willamette River belie the danger of losing a ball or two here. If you do come back with a lighter bag, the clubhouse's amenities will surely cheer you up.

Oswego Lake Country Club, 20 Iron Mountain Blvd., Lake Oswego | Multi-level greens and a difficult par 71 course will push you to the limit. Looking to sharpen your swing? Members can take advantage of year-round instruction from PGA Professionals.

The Oregon Golf Club, 25700 SW Petes Mountain Rd., West Linn | This championship course was designed by Portland native and seven-time PGA Tour winner Peter Jacobsen.

Just puttin’ around

Edgefield Golf Course, 2126 SW Halsey St., Troutdale | Featuring a 9-hole and *checks notes* a 20-hole course, this is the place to hone your irons and chipping while sipping a McMenamins brew. Pitch and putt is also a great way to try the sport if you've never picked up a club in your life.

Colwood Golf Center, 7313 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland | Located not far from Portland International Airport, this 9-hole par 3 course provides a leisurely outing with holes ranging from 76 to 200 yards.

Eagle Landing Golf Course, 10220 SE Causey Ave., Portland | There are three ways to have fun here: a 27-hole, ADA-approved course, 36 holes of lighted mini golf, and a 9-hole soccer golf course.

Portland Urban Golf, various locations, Portland | Since 2004, this group of amateur golfers and pub crawlers have been whacking tennis (or foam) balls around "streets of cosmopolitan areas, in neighborhoods, on college campuses, in parks, and in industrial wastelands." Despite its alt vibe, safety and legality are always prioritized.

Infinity Golf, 11513 SW Pacific Hwy., Tigard | Bring your own clubs or take a rental set out for a spin, then reward your hard work with a visit to the Eagle's Nest Public House.
